Overview
The Kickbite tracking pixel collects website visitor data — page views, referrer information, UTM parameters, and conversion events. This data feeds Kickbite's attribution model. The setup differs depending on your shop system.
Shopify Stores: Custom Pixel
Shopify stores use a single Custom Pixel that handles both page tracking and conversion events. Your Customer Success Manager will provide the pixel code and guide you through installation.
Note for multi-market Shopify stores: If your store uses different checkout domains for different markets, additional configuration may be needed. Your CS Manager will help set this up.
Non-Shopify Stores: Two Tags
Non-Shopify stores (Magento, Shopware, WooCommerce, etc.) require two separate tracking tags:
Tag #1 — All Pages
This tag goes on every page of your website, typically via Google Tag Manager (GTM) or directly in your source code. It collects page views, referrer data, and UTM parameters.
Tag #2 — Thank-You Page Only
This tag goes only on your order confirmation page (thank-you page). It captures conversion events and extracts order data from your datalayer.
Consent Requirements
Both tags must fire only after user consent is given. This is important for:
Legal compliance (GDPR / TTDSG)
Fair comparison with other tracking tools (GA4, etc.) — if Kickbite fires before consent but GA4 fires after, the data won't be comparable
You also need to add a Kickbite privacy policy snippet to your website's privacy policy. Your CS Manager will provide the text.
Verifying Your Setup
After installing the tracking pixel, the Kickbite team will verify that:
Page views are being captured correctly
Conversion events fire on the thank-you page
Consent timing is correct
Once verified, click "Mark as Finished" in the wizard to complete this step.
