How to connect Kickbite to ChatGPT (MCP)

Kickbite connects to ChatGPT through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard AI assistants use to talk to external tools. Once connected, you can ask about your marketing performance in plain language and get answers that match your Kickbite dashboards.

What you'll need

  • ChatGPT in a browser. Custom MCP connectors are web-only today — they don't appear in the mobile apps.

  • Permission to add custom connectors. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces your admin controls this. If you can't find Developer mode, ask your workspace admin to enable it for you.

  • Your Kickbite login — the same email and password you use for Kickbite.

  • The Kickbite MCP server URL: https://mcp.kickbite.io/mcp

Step 1 — Turn on Developer mode

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings.

  2. Go to the connectors section. Depending on your plan and language it's called Apps & Connectors, Apps, Connectors or Plugins.

  3. Open Advanced settings (Erweiterte Einstellungen).

  4. Switch Developer mode (Entwicklermodus) on.

Developer mode is what lets you add a custom MCP server like Kickbite. You only need to enable it once.

Step 2 — Add the Kickbite MCP

  1. Go back to Apps & Connectors / Plugins.

  2. Click Browse (Durchsuchen), then the + or Create button to add a new connector.

  3. Fill in the two fields:

    • Name — Kickbite MCP

    • MCP server URL — https://mcp.kickbite.io/mcp

  4. Choose OAuth as the authentication method. Leave any header, token or API key fields empty — Kickbite doesn't use them.

  5. Tick the box confirming you trust the application, then click Create.

Step 3 — Sign in with your Kickbite account

  1. Open the new Kickbite connector and click Connect (you may see Register or Sign in).

  2. A Kickbite login window opens — enter your normal Kickbite email and password.

  3. The connector then shows as connected, with its tools listed.

Step 4 — Start asking

Open a new chat and make sure the Kickbite connector is selected for it — in Developer mode you enable connectors from the tools menu next to the message box. Then test it with:

  • "List my available Kickbite markets."

Is this secure?

  • You sign in as yourself. The connector uses OAuth — the same standard behind "sign in with" buttons. You authenticate directly with Kickbite and ChatGPT never receives your password.

  • Your permissions apply. You only ever see the accounts and markets your Kickbite user already has access to.

  • Analytics are read-only. A small number of planning tools (for example monthly targets) can write, and only after they show you a preview and you explicitly confirm it.

Troubleshooting

I can't find Developer mode

Check you're using ChatGPT in a browser and not the mobile app — custom connectors are web-only. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin has to allow custom connectors before the option appears, so ask your workspace admin to enable it.

The connector says I'm not connected

The browser sign-in probably didn't finish. Open the connector, click Connect again, complete the Kickbite login, then start a new chat.

ChatGPT answers from general knowledge instead of my data

The connector isn't active in that chat. Select it from the tools menu next to the message box, or start a new chat with it enabled.

A question comes back with "no data"

Name the market and the period explicitly ("for EU in June"). If one market always returns no data it may not be actively tracking — let us know and we'll check.
