Multi-market tagging: campaigns showing in the wrong market

Why campaigns leak into the wrong Kickbite market, the common tagging and mapping causes, and how to check and fix them.

Written by Juan Garzon

In multi-market setups, a campaign can show sessions or cost under the wrong market — for example AT traffic appearing under DE. That is almost always a tagging or mapping issue, not random drift.

How markets are typically assigned

Kickbite can use signals such as:

  • Landing URL, domain, or path

  • Shipping or shop / store mapping

  • Ads account → market mapping

  • kb= parameters and UTMs that encode geo or market

Exact priority depends on your setup. When two signals disagree, campaigns leak into the wrong market view.

Common leak patterns

  • Shared ads account across countries without market-specific campaign tagging

  • Wrong Final URL pointing DE ads at an AT URL, or the reverse

  • Missing geo / market token in UTMs or kb= where your channel and market rules expect one

  • Cost mapped to one market while sessions land in another

How to check and fix

  1. Pick one leaking campaign and open a real landing URL from the live ad.

  2. Confirm domain, path, and UTM / kb= match the intended market.

  3. Check the ads account → Kickbite market mapping.

  4. Fix the template, Final URL, or UTM rules so new traffic lands correctly.

  5. Wait one complete Kickbite day and re-check Marketing Performance by market.

Past sessions that already landed in the wrong market normally stay there. Fixes apply going forward unless CS runs a specific correction.
